The Katana Sword – The Ultimate Battle Ready Sword
The Katana Sword and the Sword in general, has been considered the ultimate fighting weapon for thousands of years now. The Sword has made its distinguishing characteristic in Civilization not just in the East, but in the West as well. King Arthur was known for the Excalibur Sword that he drew out from behind a stone. William Wallace was known for swinging the Massive Broadsword, which showed a symbol of courage and might.
The Lord of the Rings Sword was known for severing the ring from Sauron’s hand in the LOTR Trilogy by no other than JRR Tolkein. These instruments exuberate power, freedom, war, courage and death, all wrapped into one huge package. But if you were to break down all of these instruments and I had to choose which one was the most well loved, I would have to say it was the Samurai Sword. The reason it is the most well loved weapon of war is because it was fortunate enough to acheive mythical popularity with Sword Collectors.
The Katana is more commonly known as the Samurai Sword. In the Pre Industrial days of Japan, the Samurai were also known as military nobles, right proud and very skilled warriors that weren’t worried to battle to the death. The American Movie Industry pumped these people up as legendary soldiers with unscathed fighting tactics.
But history will let us know that the real Samurai wasn’t quite this mythical. They started out as Clan Warriors and Mercenaries in the 8-9 centuries. Later they evolved into nobles around 300 years later. Over time, the Japanese Samurai and started using their own custom weapons and started their own internal ethical code of conduct known as the Bushido, which stands for the Way Of The Warrior.
The Samurai used the Katana, so that’s why the term Samurai and Katana Sword are one and the same now. This battle weapon was developed around 1400 AD. It is known for its curved shape which was designed to be able to cut off body parts with a single motion. Right Samurai Swords are made from Tamahagane, which is a combination of High & Low Carbon Steels. Not anyone can craft one of these weapons. It takes someone that has a tremendous amount of skill in forging to make a Katana Blade.
