@mousee09 I use a Japanese phone company called ‘au’ and my phone is a Sony-Ericcson one. Pretty basic but it gets the job done. You can access Internet, store MP3s, text message, etc. The other main phone companies here are NTT DoCoMo and Softbank. Both are pretty expensive but they have somewhat cooler phones. If you want an Iphone, it has to be Softbank and if you want a BlackBerry, it will have to be DoCoMo.
@pandoraintokyo what kind of contact phone did you get? and what phone did you go with?
@mousee09 Yes, you will certainly need a mobile phone here. Prepaid will probably wind up being more expensive than a regular contract. I just have pretty basic service (just voicemail and calling, no Internet) on my phone and I reckon it’s about 3500 yen per month plus 10 yen per minute for phone calls. Something like that. The contract is one year if I remember correctly.
For any phone you will need to have your Alien Registration Card to make the contract so it will take a small while.
@pandoraintokyo
actuallly i do want to question you a question, would it be a excellent thought to get a contact phone or a prepaid phone while in Japan?
Cool! I hope you’ll have a wonderful time here! It’s a fantastic country and there’s lots of incredible things here. Drop me a line if you have any questions before you leave.
