Many people want to be able to speak at lease some words in Japanese; but, many feel that the language is just far too hard to know. Yet others feel that the Japanese language is an simple one to know. This can really depend on the person and how well they can adapt to learning a new language. The Japanese vocabulary has really borrowed words from many other cultures. A large number of words have been borrowed from the Chinese language and also many words from European vocabularies, including English. During the trading relationship that happened during the 16th century between what was then Portugal and Japan, the Portuguese language was very influential.
There are many different dialects that are used in the language of Japan. The dialects normally differ in the accents, the vocabulary and the particle usage. There are some that have differences in how the vowels and consonants are used. The latter is the most uncommon, but it does happen. The two largest differences in the language of the Japanese society are within the Kyoto-Osaka type and the Tokyo type. There are subdivisions of these two types of languages and they too have their own explicit ways of being spoken within the Japanese culture.
While Japanese may not be a universal language, more and more people want to learn Japanese. Many schools that once only taught languages, such as Spanish to small groups of students, are now choosing to widen the students’ horizons and teach them to speak in other languages. This type of practice can now be found in primary schools, high schools and even colleges. There are now schools in Britain, Ireland and the United States that offer such programs in Japanese.
There are many languages that can seem hard to learn, and for some the language of Japan is one of them. This may be one of the reasons why the language is being offered at more educational institutions today, so that more individuals will have access to learning this language and to learn it properly. It is right that the vocabulary and dialects in Japanese are different, as they are in most languages. But, once an individual starts to learn the nuances of the language, they will be able to decipher the differences easily.
